~ Height
Ponyville ponies are on average 2 inches (5cm) in height.
Regular G3 ponies are on average about 4 - 6 inches (10 - 15cm), depending on style and pose.
~ Hair
All standard G3 ponies have nylon My Little Pony hair. Some have tinsel, some don't. However, with Ponyvilles, they have molded hair to match their bodies.
~ Body
Standard G3s (with the exception of Lily Lightly) have semi-soft plastic bodies. Older G3 haves glued heads, while the newer G3's do not, allowing their heads to freely turn (and be easily removed for you people who like to customize :) )
G3's are molded in 2 sections- Head and Body.
Ponyville Ponies are NOT poseable. They are molded in 4 sections- Head, Hair, Tail, and Body, and glued together at the factory. They do NOT come apart (not without help of a knife or someone very strong, anyways). Pulling them apart essentially ruins them.
~ Body/Hair Color
With a standard G3, the body plastic itself is dyed, as is the Ponyville counterparts. Most Ponyvilles are as close to possible to the colors of their larger counterparts, but some varation has been seen. This generally occurs in the hair. Older Ponyville ponies that came with multicolored hair have more stipes then the newer versions. The older versions could have anywhere form 4-10 stripes of color in their hair, while the newer version are limited to 3-4.
~ Symbols
The symbols on the Ponyvilles are almost identical to G3s, with the exception that overly complicated symbols may be simplified due to size constraints, but for the most part, they're pretty accurate.
The Hoof heart serves a similar purpose in the Ponyvilles as it did in the G3's. For a G3, it was to signify which hoof had a magnet in it. For the ponyvilles, it shows which hoof has a peg hole. For instance, Triple Treat makes use of the peg hole in her hoof so she can be attached to her Ice Cream cart.
